48 Hour Floor Plan Battle Competition from Non-Architecture - Finalist
Collaboration with Alexander Cuesta
The challenge was to create a floor plan in 48 hours of a given theme, in this case it was a Parliament. The only parameters given where the overall board dimension and color palette. Our idea focused on transparency of processes and decisions as well as public integration, thus leading towards a concept of a public eye which was reflected by the function following the form. Located in an open plaza, the House Assembly is - 8ft below ground level. A glass curtain wall is located at ground level, working as a clerestory for the House Assembly and also for visibility of the public during meetings. They "eye" forms by creating an oval shape around existing buildings, using the remaining spaces as support areas such as storage. The "pupil" is the House Assembly. Additional program includes: a main vestibule area with circular stairs and elevator to access below ground, and a library and office area above ground.
